We help people answer questions they used to pay private investigators $500 for. We do that with public records, breach databases, and published web data — nothing you couldn't find yourself with a week of free time and a lot of patience. Here is exactly what that means and the lines we don't cross.
Receipts is a research tool. We surface public information faster than you could find it manually. We add a plain-English summary so you can act on it.
Receipts is NOT a Consumer Reporting Agency under the FCRA. You may not use Receipts results to make decisions about: employment, credit, insurance, housing rentals (in some states), or any other FCRA-covered purpose without separately running an FCRA-compliant background check.
For tenant screening and contractor hiring templates, we surface public court records — these are sourced from the same public dockets a paid PI would search. A formal FCRA tenant screening is a separate product. Use Receipts as a first-pass filter, not a substitute for due diligence required by law.
If a one-shot investigation returns no useful results, email us within 7 days at refunds@receipts.app and we'll refund the purchase, no questions asked. Subscription customers can cancel any time from the Settings page; unused prepaid months are refunded pro-rata for annual plans.
Real humans read every email.
